ME

My name is Jacky, I used to work in a very busy cafe located in Kitsilano. There was a part of this job that fascinated me and motivated me throughout the day no matter how many times I did it. And that is pouring latte art.

At the time, I even tried looking for in-person latte art classes around Vancouver, but couldn’t find anything accessible. That’s when the idea came to me: if I could one day get good at this, maybe I could teach it myself—so that others wouldn’t have to go through the same long and frustrating path I did.

Curious to explore more, I dove deeper into coffee content and quickly got drawn into the world of espresso and latte art. After some research, I invested in a Breville machine. Despite the excitement, my first pours were a mess—chunky milk, pale espresso, and no idea what I was doing.

How I started

In late 2019, I stumbled upon latte art videos on YouTube while learning to brew pour-over coffee at home. Back then, I was using Starbucks beans, a blade grinder, and a wide-spout kettle to pour boiling water straight onto the coffee bed—not exactly ideal, but I enjoyed the process so much that I kept going.

I kept practicing, kept learning, and eventually things started to click. I began helping friends, then teaching workshops, and now… here we are.

That’s why I teach—to make learning latte art a little easier, more approachable, and a lot more fun for others.
